Service Projects
As a student approaches Confirmation it is time for him/her to focus on his/her place in the Kingdom of God. God has a unique plan for each one of us and he gives us personalities and talents to help us his will in our lives. Below are only some ideas your child might like to consider. Each child should prayerfully seek ways to reach out and share the warmth of God's love with those around them.
Working With Children
Working to teach younger children about their faith is a fun and interactive service project. Confirmandi are able to volunteer to help with our parish SEEDS program (at 10:30 Mass during the school year), as well as volunteering to help with our vacation bible school which takes place in July. If you are interested in these programs, please contact the PREP office.

Support a Charity
If a student has a link to a certain cause (cancer, babies, etc.) they can consider ways to support that charity. Participating in a walk-a-thon, making blankets, raising awareness for Birthright are all examples of this. In addition, perhaps writing a play or making a video to creatively raise funds or awareness.
Working With the Elderly
Some students like to spend time with the elderly. There are many age-appropriate ways to do this. Some students have helped with game nights (like Bingo), spent time reading to the elderly, or even playing chess. If there is an elderly neighbor perhaps helping walk their pet or take care of their yard would be good service ideas.
Outreach to the Missionaries of Charity in Norristown
The Outreach to Missionaries of Charity group provides hot cooked meals for underprivileged adults and children at the Sister's of Charity Mission Home in Norristown. Volunteers prepare the meals at home and meet every third and fourth Saturday of the month at the Mission to set up and serve the food. The program has become a family oriented effort, with spouses, children and grandchildren all coming together to help out. Often times the group will also help with other Mission chores, such as sorting through boxes of donated clothing.
St. Jude's Hospital for Children The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. Your class or child can raise money to help other children who are ill and in need of healthcare.
ConKerr Cancer Has provided nearly 400,000 pillowcases made by thousands of volunteers from across North America and in South Africa. School groups, sewing circles, church groups and fabric stores have all pitched in and are making pillowcases for the kids. An exciting new program has been to take fabric and sewing machines to hospitals and sew with the patients and their families. Our goal is to give a bright cheery pillowcase to every seriously ill child in North America by 2015. In addition, we are expanding internationally with chapters in Canada & South Africa.
Little Dresses for Africa Little Dresses for Africa is a non-profit 501c3, Christian based organization which provides relief to the children of Africa. Simple dresses are made out of pillow cases and distributed through the orphanages, churches and schools in Africa to plant in the hearts of little girls that they are worthy!
